Hello world! Hello mothers, hello healthcare professionals, hello to anyone who has a mother, or knows someone who is living or working in healthcare facility. I am so happy that you found this website. The main focus I want for this website is to be a safe place for community, advice for motherhood, lifestyle, and a place to share heartfelt stories and see the world from other people’s perspectives. We are all connected, whether in a big way or a small way, and we should be kind to all people.
My name is Paige, I am 31 years old, I have been a certified nursing assistant for over ten years, and I am a mom of two. I have an eight-year-old son, his name is Bentley, and I have a seven-year-old daughter, her name is Merceydes.
I became a CNA because I wanted to help people and I love taking care of people. At the time I had no idea how rewarding it would be to me, and how much it would genuinely make a difference in my life. It gave my days structure, knowing exactly what time I always had to be at work, and in the best way it became the center of my life. Even though it was my main source of income I never complained about going to work, actually the opposite, as in I looked forward to going and picked up extra shifts when needed as well. When I had a good team of people working with me and we all assisted each other, the shifts would breeze by, we would even have fun sometimes. I have met some of the most amazing people, coworkers, family members, and especially the people I was taking care of.
When I found out I was going to be a mom I was so excited, but I was also scared, and nervous. While I was pregnant, I maintained my full-time status, so I had to be extra careful with lifting, how much I was on my feet, and ensuring that I was taking the necessary vitamins, staying hydrated and not overworking myself. All of that was difficult but I made it happen because that’s what you do.
I have learned so much in the last decade, and I feel like the right thing to do is share it with someone who may not have a way to learn it for themselves. I have gained knowledge that I never would have learned without working in healthcare, and being a mom, I have graduated the newborn stage, the toddler stage, and the young kids’ stage, twice. The lessons I learn at work, I keep in mind and use at home, and vice versa.
If you would like to be a member of this mom hood community, please come back each week for new posts, and join the conversation in the discussion board. We’re all in this together.
